"I don't try and just force you, I mean, it kind of just comes out, and that's just what it is, and I don't tamper with it. I think that's kind of the beauty of it is that it's not, as I said earlier, it's not manufactured, it's not plastic, it's just is what it is." -George Sanders.

George Sanders & The Parallels | About

English-based George Sanders and the Parallels are a four-piece rock group with anthemic, raspy vocals backed by heavy guitars leaving a unique mark on the modern rock scene. George Sanders fronts the band and plays the guitar; Dylan Stubbings plays the drums, Matt Latter plays the bass, and Tom Carey plays the guitar.

George Sanders & The Parallels take inspiration from every decade, creating a new yet wonderfully familiar sound.

"Nowadays, especially kind of where we're from, so many people would try and be something they're not. It is so frustrating to see because, you know, they don't really make authentic music, whereas I don't try and be anything that I'm not. Like what I think sounds good, and that's what people get. So when they listen to us, it's nothing false. It's nothing manufactured as such; it's very authentic." -George S.

George Sanders & The Parallels | Achievements

Formed in 2020, they have appeared on "Shakey's Sessions on CCR," "Pheonix FM," and "Radio Essex." They also started the year as BBC Introducing's Top Picks of 2022, described as "Arena Ready."

I recently sat down with George, and we talked about his music. Every quote in this article is from that interview; boy, was it good!

"Yeah, I mean, if you talk to normal artists like pop artists, they won't tell you their mean; most of the artists will tell you the main influences are other pop artists; they'll also say like rock musicians or musicians influenced by rock. So, that's one huge thing that I want people to understand as fans of music to understand that a lot of the artists don't like Pop music, they like rock music, but they make pop music." -George S.

George Sanders & The Parallels | Feedback

"As I said earlier about authenticity, I don't find making it something it isn't and I play where my brain would go to, right (like Tired), I kind of tend to leave it there because that's where it's kind of naturally gone. So I'm not trying to consciously write something out. Whatever just comes out is what happens and I'm trying not to be loud because I don't want to wake the baby. I'm so tired. And there's the main lyric is i'm so tired. That's kind of where that comes from when I'm trying to be all quiet and there are bags under my eyes and yeah, that's where it came from." -George.

There's nothing like authenticity, and this is precisely what George Sanders and The Parallels deliver in all their songs. My favorite songs are What's On Your Mind, Tired, and Pulling Eyes. These three songs are great examples of what it's like to hear a good rock song—raw and good old rock and roll.

Thank You Notes

I want to thank George for taking the time to answer my questions, and I am excited to see where he and his band go from here. I would also like to shout out Jonny Greenstein for the photos!
